Board apparently suffered concussion, but escaped serious neck injury
New York Giants wide receiver C.J. Board may have escaped without a serious neck injury after he was hit Sunday by Deshazor Everett of the Washington Football Team.
Board was carted off the field after falling to the ground after trying unsuccessfully to catch a pass from Daniel Jones early in the third quarter. He was immobilized when taken from the field.
Fellow wide receiver Darius Slayton said his understanding was that Board has a concussion, but no major neck injury, and could go home from the hospital Sunday night.
Giants head coach Joe Judge said that Board was conscious and moving his extremities on the field, and that the reports he had on Board post-game were “pretty positive.”
The Giants are thin at wide receiver, and finished the game with only three receivers — Slayton, Golden Tate and Austin Mack, a rookie playing in his first game.
Sterling Shepard (turf toe) has been on IR since Week 2. It would be a big lift to the Giants if he is healthy enough to be activated for Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
