Cardinals QB Josh Rosen traded to Dolphins

The Josh Rosen-Cardinals divorce is complete.

The Miami Dolphins traded their second-round pick, No. 62 overall, to the Arizona Cardinals for Rosen, last year’s No. 10 overall pick, and their 2020 fifth-round pick.

The Dolphins had earlier traded their original second-round pick, No. 48 overall, to the New Orleans Saints and dealt the Saints’ pick to the Cardinals.

As late as hours before the draft the Giants had been linked to possibly landing Rosen, but that obviously went out the window when they selected Daniel Jones at No. 6 to be Eli Manning‘s successor.

The value going back to Arizona surely means the Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman could have likely landed Rosen had they desired so. However, they passed on him in 2018 by taking eventual Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley and did the same a year later.

Rosen struggled in his first year with Arizona. He completed 55.2 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games (13 starts).

The Cardinals fired their former coach, Steve Wilks, and hired Kliff Kingsbury, who has always thought highly of Kyler Murray. Arizona took Murray with the first pick, ensuring that Rosen would be on the move.

And that place is apparently Miami.

The AFC East now has three of the five first-round quarterbacks taken in last year’s draft, with Rosen joining the Jets’ Sam Darnold and Bills’ Josh Allen
