Daniel Jones is among some big-name rookies at Giants minicamp this week, but he hopes to have one more join him in the Big Apple.
The Duke alum shared the school’s Durham, North Carolina, campus with another up-and-coming star: basketball phenom Zion Williamson, the prospective No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
That top pick in June is one the Giants’ neighboring Knicks hope to have, and one more friendly face for Jones to know in a new city.
“I’ve gotten to know him a little bit,” the rookie quarterback told reporters in New Jersey on Friday. He smirked when asked about Williamson possibly joining him in New York. “We talked a little bit about that actually, this week. That’d be a cool deal.”
The Knicks will find out if they’ll get the chance to pick Jones’ buddy at the NBA draft lottery on May 14, but for now, it’s a thought for New York sports fans to enjoy.
“We’ll see what happens,” Jones said. “He’s a special guy.”
