Dave Gettleman On Odell Beckham Trade Talk: “We Didn’t Sign Him To Trade Him”

A report surfaced that on Tuesday that there’s already buzz around the NFL that the 49ers would be interested in pursuing a trade for Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr this offseason if he ends up being available.

However, Giants GM Dave Gettleman made it clear that they have no intention of trading Beckham.

“We didn’t sign him to trade him,” Gettleman said, per Ralph Vacchiano.

When asked if that means Beckham will be here in 2019, Gettleman replied: “You heard what I said.”

Beckham, 26, was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Giants back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $10,406,198 contract before the Giants picked up his fifth-year option in 2017.

Beckham was set to make a base salary of $8,459,000 for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new five-year extension worth up to $95 million and includes $65 million in total guarantees. He stands to make base salaries of $16.75 million and $14 million over the next two years.

In 2018, Beckham appeared in 12 games for the Giants and recorded 77 receptions for 1,052 yards receiving (13.7 YPC) and six touchdowns.
