Could Peyton Manning end up serving as the next general manager of the New York Jets? If so, his brother, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, doesn’t know a thing about it.
“I don’t know,” Manning told Newsday on Monday. “I have not talked to him about that. I have no inside scoop on that.”
If Peyton were to take the Jets’ GM job, the two brothers would not only share the city, but they’d also share the field this coming season. However, Eli doesn’t believe that would be an awkward circumstance.
“Obviously we play the Jets this year, but in that sense I don’t know if there would be that much that overlapped. I don’t think it would be strange.”
Ultimately, Peyton to the Jets seems unlikely.
Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports that Peyton joining the Jets as their next GM is “unrealistic” and that it’s a job the retired quarterback doesn’t seem to want.
Manning as the next Jets GM is “unrealistic” and being an NFL GM is “not a job he seems to want” said a source close to Manning told SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano.
Although it would be an interesting dynamic to see Peyton arrive in East Rutherford as Eli appears to be heading out, it doesn’t appear to be a sidebar fans are going to get.
