Game of Thrones’ George R.R. Martin rips Giants for drafting Daniel Jones

For Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, the Giants picking QB Daniel Jones No. 6 overall in the NFL Draft was more similar to The Red Wedding than anything positive that happened during Sunday night’s episode.

Martin, who has spit fire about his beloved sports teams before, can’t wrap his head around why the Giants took the Duke QB over Dwayne Haskins

“Daniel Jones from Duke at number six? Yes, they need a young quarterback to gromm as Eli’s successor,” Martin wrote. “But Dwayne Haskins was right there. Why not him? I don’t followe college ball, but by every measurable Haskins is way better than Jones. Jones threw 52 TDs in three years at Duke, Haskins threw 50 in one year at Ohio State. Within (sic) fewer interceptions. Against much tougher opposition.”

Martin, like most people, went on to note that Giants GM Dave Gettleman must be on an (Iron) Island when it comes to Jones.

“Dave Gettleman must have seen something in Jones that no one else could see,” writes Martin. “But even if you accept that, taking him at 6 seems insane. He would have been there at 17. Why not take Josh Allen or one of the other defensive studs at 6, and Jones at 17? Makes much more sense.”

Martin adds that it was “common knowledge” that the Redskins preferred Haskins, meaning they wouldn’t have been a threat to nab jones, and concludes by saying “everyone in the world except the G-men preferred Haskins, so far as I can see.”
