Giants agree to deal with free agent right tackle Mike Remmers

The Giants finally have their new right tackle.

Big Blue agreed in principle to a deal with free agent Mike Remmers on Saturday, his agent announced on Twitter and confirmed he will be moving back to his natural position of right tackle.

Remmers, 30, has been on the Giants’ radar since he was cut by the Minnesota Vikings in March but could not sign with a team until he passed a physical after recovering from offseason back surgery.

The veteran right tackle started 27 games over the last two seasons with the Vikings and has ties to both head coach Pat Shurmur, who was the former offensive coordinator in Minnesota, and GM Dave Gettleman, who signed him to the Carolina Panthers in 2014.

Remmers joins a Giants offensive line that consists of Nate Solder at left tackle, Will Hernandez as left guard, Kevin Zeitler at right guard and a likely competition of Spencer Pulley and Jon Halapio at center.
