Team switches rookie tackles

After a week of speculation about how struggling rookie left tackle Andrew Thomas would fare against fellow rookie Chase Young and the Washington Football Team’s stable of quality edge rushers, it appears that he won’t. At least not right away.

Thomas, drafted No. 4 overall by the Giants, was replaced in the starting lineup Sunday by rookie Matt Peart. The Giants drafted Peart, a right tackle at UConn, in the third round, 99th overall.

Thomas has given up more pressures than any tackle in the league thru five weeks. The Giants were steadfast all week in saying they still had confidence in Thomas, the team’s youngest player.

Thomas had said during the week that his confidence had not been shaken by his rough start.

We will have more on this move when we speak with coach Joe Judge after the game.
