Giants bringing back Pro Bowl kicker Aldrick Rosas

A key member of the 2018 Giants is officially back in the fold.

In a no-brainer move, the Giants tendered exclusive rights free agent kicker Aldrick Rosas, a source told SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano. Rosas, 24, made the 2018 Pro Bowl in his second season as the Giants’ kicker and was named second-team All-Pro.

Rosas completed 97 percent of his field goals last season (32-for-33) and converted 31 of 32 extra-point attempts. He was 4-for-5 on field-goal attempts of at least 50 yards and 6-for-6 on attempts between 40 and 49 yards.

As an exclusive rights FA, Rosas will get a one-year, minimum-salary contract.

So will Jon Halapio, as Vacchiano reports he and fullback Elijhaa Penny were other exclusive rights free agents the Giants tendered on Wednesday. Halapio, 27, earned the starting center job out of training camp but suffered a fractured right leg and ankle in Week 2 against Dallas, injuries which required season-ending surgery.

Halapio has been praised by Giants general manager Dave Gettleman and played well in his limited time as the starter. ESPN reports Halapio’s rehab is going well and that he’s expected to return for spring activities. Halapio was on the Giants’ practice squad before ending the 2017 season strong, earning him a contract for 2018.

The Giants did not tender OLD/DL Jordan Williams, according to ESPN.
