The Giants weren’t going to let this one go unanswerd.
After the Jets thanked the Giants on Twitter before Thursday’s NFL Draft for passing on Sam Darnold last year, the Giants answered, “You’re welcome” with a photo of last year’s No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley posing with his Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

That was in response to a photo the Jets tweeted of three Jets fans, two wearing Darnold t-shirts which say “Thank You Giants” on them, and another holding a new No. 14 Darnold jersey. The tweet with the photo simply said, “Thank you, @Giants.”

While drama surrounds the Giants entering this year’s draft regarding when they might take a quarterback, or if they’ll take on at all, the Jets are reveling in the fact that Dave Gettleman decided to take Barkley No. 2 overall last year in what was considered a strong quarterback draft, allowing the Jets to grab Darnold at No. 3.
So the Jets have their quarterback of the future — and present — and are thus in a position to either take whoever they want at No. 3 or trade the pick for a bundle of assets. The Giants, meanwhile, will try to follow the “Kansas City model” while rolling with a 38-year-old Eli Manning this season.
The problem is, it doesn’t appear there’s a Pat Mahomes-level QB prospect in this draft. So the Giants could be waiting a while for their next franchise QB. The Jets don’t have that problem.
