The New York Jets hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, while their in-state rivals, the New York Giants, hold the No. 6 overall pick.
Very rarely do the two teams do business, but might that change this April? The Jets could look to move down or give up their spot for a quality pass rusher, and one potential trade partner are those very same Giants.
“Right now, we feel good at No. 3, but I’d definitely say if there’s an opportunity to trade down, we would absolutely look at it,” Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan told reporters at the NFL Combine.
Our friends over at Draft Wire have taken note of this interesting possibility, and in their latest 2019 NFL Mock Draft, they have the Giants and Jets making a major trade at the top of the draft ordering, essentially shaking things up.
The Giants trade the No. 6 overall pick, their second-round pick and a 2020 first-round pick to the Jets in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick and select, as you may have expected, Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Interestingly, this pick is made with Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray still on the board.
Last year, the Jets made this exact same jump to take their franchise quarterback in Sam Darnold. This year, the Giants go after their own by doing business with their Big Apple rivals. In return for their first-round pick next year and second-round pick this year, the Giants land this year’s top passer and a successor to Eli Manning.
With the No. 6 pick acquired from the Giants, Gang Green goes big by selecting wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.
Without a third-round pick, the Giants don’t get back on the board until Round 4, where they’re able to land a quality offensive tackle later than expected.

How would you feel about this scenario, Giants fans? Would you simply be thrilled with a future quarterback finally in place or do you feel as if the cost is simply too high?
