Let’s check your Thursday headlines
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
A couple of games by Giants made the list.
PFF says the additions of Jabrill Peppers, DeAndre Baker and Julian mean the secondary “could emerge as a strength” in 2019.
The Giants are banking on that. As I wrote earlier in the week, though, inexperienced players make mistakes. The Giants are likely going to have to live through some growing pains with this young group.
This is one of the reasons why using the 15th overall pick on quarterback Dwayne Haskins was a massive risk for Washington.
CBS chooses the “How long before Daniel Jones takes over for Eli Manning?” question, saying:
It sounds like the Giants are committed to Manning for this season. But what if things don’t go well early and the offense struggles? Do they turn to Jones to get the future started? It would make sense after using the sixth overall pick to take him in the April draft. There have been a lot of good things coming from the Giants about Jones and his on-field work, but is that just lip service? Manning will certainly open the season as the starter, but how long does he stay there?
I am already on record wondering how the Giants will handle the inevitable transition.
There are a few old-time Giants on this list.
The NFLPA wants players to be prepared in the event of a work stoppage in 2021.
“Something definitely feels special about being here,” Tate told Ian Rapoport. “I’ve known for a long time that this fan base is incredible. After playing in this division last year for a little bit, I think that this is the best division in football to be a part of, and that’s exciting.”
Respect to Latimer for pitching in, and for having his priorities in the right order.
