Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. is blunt about quad injury: ‘S–t ain’t right’

On Thursday, Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was off the practice field, and instead, in a doctor’s office as he checked out his quad injury once again.

Beckham’s injury is being called a bruise, but after having to miss last Sunday’s win over the Redskins, it appears to be more than that. And when reporters asked Thursday what exactly is ailing Beckham, the star receiver answered as straightforward as he could be.

“I don’t know. It’s like saying I broke my leg, well you really fractured it,” Beckham said. “You know, it’s just choice of words, whatever you want to call it. S–t ain’t right.”

Whether or not that nagging quad gets right by Sunday for the Giants’ contest against the Titans is still unknown. Beckham suggests he will have to monitor it up all the way up to kickoff to see if he could suit up.

“I honestly don’t know until Sunday gets here,” he said. “It’s just been getting better each and every day so just got to figure out what it was.”

The injury supposedly came on the very last play in the team’s loss to the Eagles, when LB Kamu Grugier-Hill leg-whipped Beckham to end the game. Beckham played through the injury against the Bears, but he was a late addition to the injury report last week as it stiffened up on him.

In the past, Beckham said he might have forced himself on the field. But maturity in the league had him more cautious this time around.

“I feel like a younger me wouldn’t have spoke up and said anything,” he admitted. “And then I would’ve went out and played and coulda been worse. So we went and got it checked and we seen whatever we saw. Just kinda going from there.”

The 26-year-old is trying his hardest to get back on the field at full health by Sunday. He doesn’t want to miss another game, especially with the Giants’ very slim playoff hopes still alive.

Beckham’s proclamation that the Giants would win all eight games following the bye week had a slight hiccup with a tough loss to the Eagles. But they have won four of five games, and if they can reach 8-8, there is a chance the playoffs could come calling if the dominos fall their way.

“When we were 1-7 and I sat there and said, ‘I feel like we’re going to win every single game, the goal is to win every single game’ it wasn’t me just throwing these words around,” Beckham explained. “Now we’re in that position with the one little mishap I see us going 8-8 and I just feel like he’s got a plan. It’s all going to fall together. Whoever needs to lose and this and that and all the pieces that need to fall into place I feel like they’re going to fall in place.”
