Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. not backing down from daunting goal: ‘We’ve got to win seven more’

One down, only seven to go.

After helping the Giants down the 49ers with two touchdown catches in Monday night’s 27-23 win, WR Odell Beckham Jr. is one-eighth of the way to completing his lofty goal.

On Friday, Beckham said his second-half objective was to win the remaining games on the schedule for a hopeful playoff push.

“Win eight games, go 9-7 and get in the playoffs,” he told reporters. “It’s not an easy task, but that is the goal. Win every game and do anything I can to help that.”

And on Monday, he didn’t back down from that daunting goal, as Eli Manning led the Giants in a game-winning drive in the final minute to improve to 2-7 and snap a five-game losing streak.

“It feels good to get a win, man, I’m not gonna lie,” Beckham said. “We got to win seven more, and whatever happens, happens. That’s all we can do, that’s the only focus we have. This is Game One.”

Despite a season-high two TDs, Beckham caught only four of 11 targets for 73 yards on the night, saying after the game “I felt like I could’ve done better.” ( He sent the same message later on Twitter, along with a hashtag.

No 1-7 team has ever bounced back to make the playoffs. Entering Monday’s win, gave the Giants a one percent chance to make it there.

But S Landon Collins is sharing in Beckham’s dream.

“You heard what Odell said: We can make a 9-7 run,” Collins said, per “They gave us a one percent chance to get in the playoffs? I’ll take it.”
