Giants Releasing Veteran OLB Connor Barwin

Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants and veteran OLB Connor Barwin have agreed to part ways on Tuesday.

Barwin still wants to continue his NFL career, but he had said that he wasn’t happy with his role in New York last season.

Earlier in the day, Barwin posted the following on his Twitter account:

Barwin, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. He was entering the fifth year of his six-year, $36 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed when the Eagles released him in 2017.

Barwin played one season for the Rams before agreeing to a two-year contract worth up to $5 million with the Giants last year.

According to, releasing Barwin will free up $1.5 million of available cap space while creating $365,000 in dead money.

In 2018, Barwin appeared in 15 games for the Giants and recorded 12 tackles, one sack and four pass defenses.
