Barwin still wants to continue his NFL career, but he had said that he wasn’t happy with his role in New York last season.
Earlier in the day, Barwin posted the following on his Twitter account:
The journey continues…thankful for it all! 🙏🏼 @ New York Football Giants https://t.co/0mkUbQ60Nj

Barwin, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. He was entering the fifth year of his six-year, $36 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed when the Eagles released him in 2017.
Barwin played one season for the Rams before agreeing to a two-year contract worth up to $5 million with the Giants last year.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Barwin will free up $1.5 million of available cap space while creating $365,000 in dead money.
In 2018, Barwin appeared in 15 games for the Giants and recorded 12 tackles, one sack and four pass defenses.
