The New York Giants have selected Auburn wide receiver Darius Slayton with the 171st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

In breaking the trend of recent defenders, the Giants went with a wide receiver in Round 6, but not necessarily one that they’ll be looking to replace Odell Beckham Jr., who was traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Slayer is an all-around talent at wide receiver, with solid size, speed and athleticism. And while he still needs to work on his ability to separate, there’s no denying he can step in as a field-stretcher out of the gate.

There’s a lot of development needed, and Slayer seemed to take a step backwards in 2018, but is he can recreate his his success from 2017 and continue to ascending, the Giants have a quality receiver going forward.
