Giants sign three 2019 rookies, including DB Julian Love

Three of the Giants’ 2019 NFL Draft selection have inked their rookie contracts, as DB Julian Love, G/T George Asafo-Adjei, and DT Chris Slayton have signed.

Love is at the top of the three, being a fourth-rounder. Giants GM Dave Gettleman noted that Love could make the transition to safety depending on how the team assesses his skill set. And that position switch could work out for Love, who called himself a physical player in his first interview after becoming a Giant.

“I think I’m a pretty physical player, I don’t shy away from contact at all,” he told reporters on Saturday. “If anything, I show a lot of effort, I’m a smart player and I make plays. That’s what I’ve done my whole life and I’m excited to do that going forward. I’m just going to continue to be a playmaker. “

At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Love likes working out of the slot, but wouldn’t mind moving outside.’s Lance Zierlein actually compared Love to Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye, a player who has worked very well with Jalen Ramsey down in Jacksonville.

Asafo-Adjei and Slayton were the Giants’ seventh-round selections. Asafo-Adjei, a Kentucky product, was the only offensive lineman the Giants chose despite their need at right tackle. He played that position last season, but many believe he would translate to the NFL as a guard.

Slayton is more help in the trenches for the Giants if he makes the team out of training camp. The Syracuse defensive tackle has a few players above him on the depth chart, but you never know how camp battles will shake out. The 6-foot-4, 307-pounder recorded 24 tackles — eight for loss — and 3.5 sacks in his senior year in 2018. He also served as a defensive captain.
