Giants’ trade of Odell Beckham Jr. too much to handle for George R.R. Martin

Not even the guy who created Game of Thrones could imagine such a thing so cruel.

George R.R. Martin, author of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, is a New Jersey native a big Jets and Giants fan, but he was completely taken aback when the Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns in exchange for a first and third-round draft pick and safety Jabrill Peppers

Martin vented his frustrations in his blog on Wednesday.

“I’ve been watching and rooting for the G-Men since ‘the Greatest Game Ever Played’ in 1958,” he wrote. “Beckham was not only the best receiver on today’s Giants, but he was the best receiver this storied NFL franchise has EVER had in their long history, and probably the best receiver they will ever have. They are certainly not going to replace him with the 17th overall pick in the forthcoming draft.

“…I thought the last two seasons were rough for Giants fans. Next year is going to make them look like the good old days.”

Luckily for Martin, he also roots for the Jets and they appear to be headed in the opposite direction, scoring top free agent running back Le’Veon Bell
