Odell Beckham Jr.’s quad injury appears to be more serious than originally thought.
The Giants wide receiver was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Redskins on Saturday and did not travel with the team.
Beckham was listed as a limited participant in Friday’s practice but it was not serious enough to even list him as “questionable.”
Head coach Pat Shurmur was adamant he expected the wide receiver to play.
“Just gave him a little time. He’s gonna be fine. He’s playing,” Shurmur said. “He’s got a quad bruise that’s been lingering. Remember the last play against Philly? When he got leg-whipped?”.
This will be the first game Beckham will miss this season.
The 26-year-old has 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns this year.
Sterling Shepard will likely slide into the No. 1 wide receiver role.
