LSU standout DE K’Lavon Chaisson reveals he met with Giants at NFL Combine

The Giants are in the need for a pass rusher this offseason, and with Ohio State’s Chase Young most likely gone at No. 4 when New York picks, there are other options to choose from if GM Dave Gettleman wishes to go that route in the first round.

K’Lavon Chaisson out of LSU is one of those players.

Speaking at the Combine, Chaisson talked about the prospect of playing in New York, and said he would definitely be able to adapt to big city life.

“That’ll be great,” the 6-foot-4, 250-pounder said. “I’m willing to accept anybody that comes my way. I’m not specific on picking where I go. That’ll obviously be a different environment for me being down south from Houston, so going all the way up north and being up there. But I’m sure it will be easy to adapt to, and by the time I get it going, I’m ready to roll.”

Chaisson made a real name for himself in the NCAA last season, when he totaled 13.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and one forced fumble to go along with 34 combined tackles. His best game came in the College Football Playoff against Oklahoma in the semifinal, when he tallied two sacks and six tackles in the Tigers’ rout of the Sooners.

At the moment, Chaisson is projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick, which means the Giants would have to trade down to acquire him. However, other needs have to be filled for Big Blue like offensive line and linebacker.

But you never know who teams could fall in love with, and Chaisson may impress the Jets enough at the Combine on Saturday during defensive line and linebacker workouts.
