Michael Strahan, Joe Horn sound off on Michael Thomas cell phone celebration

Michael Thomas brought back some bad memories for Michael Strahan on Sunday.

The Saints wide receiver celebrated a late touchdown in New Orleans’ 45-35 win over the Rams by pulling out a cell phone from underneath the goal post — paying homage to when Joe Horn did the same thing to the Giants in 2003.

Strahan, a member of that Giants defense and current analyst on Fox Sports, did not appreciate it.

“I didn’t like it then. I didn’t like it now,” he said on the Fox postgame show.

The response from Strahan was relayed to Horn, who fired back at the former Giants star for still being salty about losing the game in which he did the celebration.

“Michael Strahan got four touchdowns scored on his a–,” Horn told Jeff Duncan of “That’s why he didn’t like it. That’s why he’s being negative.”

Horn also praised Thomas for recreating his infamous touchdown celebration, adding that he got emotional watching it.

“When I saw him bring out that cellphone, it brought a tear to my eye,” he said. “For him to pay homage to me in that way, let me know what kind of a man Michael Thomas is.”

Thomas’ celebration resulted in a penalty and will likely also cost him in fines, too, but he seemed to be okay with that.

“I paid tribute to (Horn), tried to get the crowd going a little bit more, set the tone, have fun out there, giving people a show,” Thomas said, via ESPN. “You gotta have fun. All these guys just catching touchdowns and celebrating with each other, having fun, getting the crowd involved. I felt like I had an opportunity to make it happen, put the game away and make a call.”
