Let’s get to your Tuesday headlines
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
If he gets out of Cleveland, could Schobert be a free-agent target for the Giants?
Leonard Williams’ value is discussed here:
It might come as a surprise that Williams is only fourth on the list of the top interior defenders available this offseason. Per the projected contracts from our friends at Over the Cap, Williams is slated to bring in the second-richest deal behind only Jones (five years, $75 million), but in some regards, Williams’ reputation and first-round pedigree has shielded the fact that he hasn’t really developed into the dominant force that it looked like he would become early in his career. His highest PFF grade came at 81.4 back in 2016, and he is coming off a career-low 70.6 overall grade in a 2019 season split between the New York Jets and the New York Giants.
That isn’t to say Williams‘ upside is gone. The high-end reps on his tape are impressive, speaking to the talent that got him drafted sixth overall five seasons ago, and he’s consistently been a positive run defender with average to above-average pass-rushing ability. Williams just hasn’t shown the consistently elite play that would command a contract in the range of $15 million per year, and unless he develops as a pass-rusher, he shouldn’t be commanding that type of money.
PFF’s Mike Renner votes for Jeudy, barely.
So, too, is Giants’ assistant Bret Bielema.
