Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. failed to recover an onside kick late in the fourth quarter in Sunday’s win over the Bears.

It appeared that he waited for it to cross the “line of scrimmage” and then tried to bat it out of bounds once it crossed that line.

When asked about it after the game, he got a bit defensive:

“Nobody should ever question my effort. You can question me as a man, as a person, do whatever you want to do. But my heart, my effort, can never be questioned. Ever,” said Beckham Jr. (via Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News).

Some questioned the star wideout for not going after the football harder than he did.

His hesitation could’ve been due to his inexperience in that situation, but some believe he was just disinterested in getting dirty and taking a hit.

Nobody will know the truth – it is all subjective.

The Bears recovered the onside kick and wound up scoring the game-tying touchdown soon after.

But the Giants ultimately ended up with the victory in overtime, 30-27.
