With New York Giants’ Sterling Shepard playing out of the slot, the majority of looks don’t necessarily go his way. His production and efficiency are limited with Odell Beckham Jr. sidelined with a bruised quad.
Darkhorse producer for the New York Giants:
One wide-out that could make a serious splash against the Tennessee Titans is former Brown, Corey Coleman. The first-round pick has seen his fair share of struggles the past few years, especially after breaking his hand to start off his career. Coleman performed well in week 14 against the Washington Redskins, recording 43 yards on two receptions, one of which was a beautiful toss by Eli Manning down the left boundary.
The #Giants deserve credit for giving a chance to and sticking with Corey Coleman. From everything I've read/seen he wants to take advantage of this chance and he's got OBJ in his corner. Coleman is still developing a rapport with Manning, who is much better when he’s developed chemistry and a sense of timing with his targets. These things take time, but Coleman has been working tirelessly to prove his worth with the organization.
Of course, replicating Beckham’s production is nearly impossible, but that doesn’t mean the talented receiver can’t put up a pretty number of his own. Realistically, an impressive outing would be somewhere in the range of 4 receptions, 90-100 yards and a score. If Corey can even come close to a stat-line like that, it would be considered a success all around.
The New York Giants’ game-plan going into Sunday:
The focal point of the Giants’ offense will ultimately be Saquon Barkley on Sunday, as it should be. Barkley has been a revelation for the offense, providing Manning with a fantastic check-down option and a superior leader on the field. Barkley knows how to rally his teammates and he comes through when he promises something.
I would also anticipate tight end Evan Engram receiving a few more looks than usual with Beckham out. They Giants will need to pull out all the tricks to get ahead of the Titans early on in the game.
