NY Giants: Video Proves How Eli Manning Is The ‘Checkdown King’
Russell Shepard was so wide open on this Eli Manning pass, you’ll notice him put his hand up in the air calling for the ball four times, before Manning dumps it off to Rhett Ellison. #Giants #Bears #NFL pic.twitter.com/SdpDok7hUK

NY Giants quarterback Eli Manning is ranked 28th in the league in average completed air yards (5.2).
Translation: he checks it down very often.
Which is a big reason as to why running back Saquon Barkley has 74 receptions this season.
While many have made the excuse that Manning’s lack of deep ball tendency is due to a poor offensive line, well, the video above is what many are talking about in regard to his hesitancy when it comes to throwing downfield.
And it has nothing to do with the offensive line.
Take a look.
*Notice how wide open Russell Shepard is – and notice where he winds up throwing it*
