Former New York Giant Odell Beckham Jr. is asking a judge to toss a lawsuit against him for allegedly attacking a man in a Hollywood nightclub — claiming he’s only being sued because he’s a big name, according to reports.
Bennett Mcbride Sipes claims OBJ, pop star Drake and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Younes Bendjima assaulted him as he was trying to leave the VIP area of the Delilah nightclub on March 24, 2018.
But OBJ’s attorneys say security footage shows that the footballer was simply standing in the crowd nearby.
“At best, it appears that you named Mr. Beckham because you assumed it would be easier to depose him if he was a defendant, at worst, he was named because he is one of the most famous athletes in the country, and your client believed that by naming him, he could garner media coverage or and/or a quick settlement,” his lawyer said, according to The Blast.
Sipes — who initially filed a police report and then dropped it before going after OBJ and crew in civil court — is seeking unspecified damages.
