Does quarterback Russell Wilson want out of Seattle? Is his wife pushing to move to the East Coast? Are the New York Giants the apple of their eye?

Those were the rumors presented earlier this month by Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports, but they were shot down in short order on Day 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft.

While speaking to reporters, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider laughed off the notion and dismissed it as little more than unsubstantiated internet speculation.

“I don’t have any other reason to believe that other than, like, website rumors and stuff like that,” Schneider told reporters. “We’ve been in communication with his agent, Mark (Rodgers). I’m sure we’ll continue to talk. There are some guys that are unrestricted free agents right now, so we try to work through that process.”

A year ago, Wilson passed on a long-term deal, instead opting to take things year-by-year. However, Seattle still holds many of the cards as they could use the franchise tag on Wilson after his current contract expires at the end of the upcoming season.

Ideally, as Schneider alluded, the two sides will continue to talk and eventually come to an agreement on a long-term contract, but for the time being, the situation remains fluid.

While Wilson to the Giants seems plausible, the decks are currently stacked against it coming to fruition. And while things could change, these rumors appear destined to just fade away as if Thanos snapped his fingers.
