Should Colin Kaepernick start over Eli Manning? Some NFL players think so

95 percent of defensive players in the NFL believe Colin Kaepernick should be on an NFL roster, and at least two of them think he should replace Eli Manning.

In a poll of 85 defensive players done by The Athletic, the QB most players said should be replaced by Kaepernick was Blake Bortles of the Jaguars, who received 20 percent of the vote. He was followed by Nathan Peterman, at 18 percent.

Manning was among the QBs who received “multiple votes” as the player who should be replaced by Kaepernick. Others receiving multiple votes included Josh Allen, Andy Dalton, and Josh Rosen.

The 31-year-old Kaepernick, whose outspokenness on social justice issues and decision to kneel during the national anthem in order to shed light on social justice issues, has not played in the league since 2016.

Kaepernick has filed suit against the league, claiming that he has been blackballed — a fair claim when you consider the kinds of QBs who have littered NFL rosters the last two seasons.

During his last season in the league, Kaepernick completed 196 of 331 passes (59.2 percent) with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games for the 49ers. He also rushed 69 times for 468 yards and two touchdowns.

This past season for the Giants, Manning completed 380 of 576 passes (66 percent) with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
