Three Giants finish in Pro Football Focus’ Top 101 Players for 2018

As they do every year, Pro Football Focus released their Top 101 players for the 2018 season, and three Giants made the cut.

Leading the pack was Offensive Rookie of the Year in RB Saquon Barkley, who came in at No. 27 on the list. Barkley bursted onto the NFL scene without a hitch, becoming the third rookie in NFL history to amass 2,000 yards or more from scrimmage.

The list also points out this insane stat: Barkley led the NFL in missed tackles with 71 forced on the season, with 31 coming after the catch.

The next Giant on the list was Odell Beckham Jr., who had a bounce-back year despite missing the final four games of the season due to a quad injury. Ranked No. 36, the star wideout received a 90.0 grade from PFF, which is considered in the elite level and ranks fifth among wide receivers in the league.

Beckham broke 1,000 yards for the fourth time in five seasons (1,052 to be exact) on 77 receptions with six touchdowns as well.

And this final Giant may come as a surprise because his numbers didn’t jump off the stat sheet, but Olivier Vernon fell in at No. 70. Vernon battled through an ankle injury throughout the season, but in 11 games, he managed to tally seven sacks and 30 combined tackles with five tackles for loss.

PFF has him down for an 86.3 overall grade as well as an 86.0 pass rush grade, which finished 13th and tied-for-seventh among edge rushers. He also totaled 46 quarterback pressures, as he was one of the Giants’ only threats off the edge for most of the year.
