WATCH: 5 players who should be atop Giants’ draft board

The Giants have plenty of areas to address this offseason, and with the sixth pick of the NFL Draft this spring, they are in position to select a prospect who could make an immediate impact.

While there is still a months-long evaluation period before the draft in April there are still a handful of prospects the Giants should have an early eye on.

Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

The Giants were 30th in sacks last year and could certainly use a pass-rusher. Ferrell had 11.5 sacks this season and 21 sacks in his last 29 games. He is also durable, not missing a game in three seasons at Clemson.

Will Grier, QB, West Virginia

The Giants could find the heir apparant to Eli Manning and Grier would be a good option to select by trading back from the No. 6 pick. Grier ahd 37 TDs and eight interceptions with West Virginia this year but there are still some questions on how he will translate into the NFL.

Jonah WIlliams, T, Alabama

Giants GM Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur have both gone on the record that they still need to improve the offensive line. After signing Nate Solder to a big contract to play left tackle last offseason, they could grab the Alabama tackle to play opposite Solder on the right side to shore up the line.

Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

If Haskins is available at No. 6, the Giants may want to pounce to take him. The Ohio State quarterback may not be ready to play right away, only playing one season with the Buckeyes, but he is a true pocket passer and set school and Big Ten passing records last year as he finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky

The Kentucky edge rusher is perhaps the most attractive option for the Giants. He had 14 sacks last and can bolster the pass-rush but can also drop back in coverage as his four passes defended last year indicate. Gettleman has often said he picks the best guy on the board, if Allen is there at six that may very well be the case.
