WATCH: Alec Ogletree, Evan Engram sound off on Giants’ win streak

When Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. made the proclamation that Big Blue would go 8-0 to finish off the second half of the season and potentially creep their way into the playoffs, no one took it seriously.

But the Giants are 2-0 coming off their bye week, and eyebrows are being raised as to whether the prediction will come true.

And it isn’t just Beckham that believe in it — the rest of his teammates have the same mentality.

“It’s not over with. I mean, we control our own destiny right now,” LB Alec Ogletree said. “We just have to win these last — we got six left now. So we’re taking it one game at a time and just focusing on one week at a time. This week we got Philly so it’ll be a good test for us and we definitely got a shot at doing a lot of good things.”

Giants TE Evan Engram reiterated Ogletree’s statement, saying this win streak — the team’s first in two years — is something they have been working tirelessly for all season long. And they are not about to abandon that feeling either.

“This is something we’ve been working for, something we know that we deserve,” Engram said. “It’s definitely a great feeling and it just adds to a lot more energy, a lot more excitement to our preparation and moving forward.”

To keep things moving in the right direction, the Giants will have to come away with a big road win over their division rival in the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are banged up in their secondary at the moment, and it showed as the Saints had their way with the defense in a blowout win on Sunday.

However, the Giants did not fare well against the Eagles’ offense when they came to MetLife Stadium a few weeks back, and the offense upgraded with veteran WR Golden Tate joining the team via trade.

Ogletree knows this time around needs to be different if the Giants want to continue to keep the rare chance of making the playoffs alive.

“To play a division opponent and get a second crack at it,” he said. “It didn’t go so well the first time against ’em. So hopefully things turn out different this time.”
