WATCH: Giants’ Pat Shurmur not worried about repeat performance vs. Eagles

Pat Shurmur is not worried about a repeat of last time the Giants faced the Eagles.

The Giants head coach said on Wednesday that the 34-13 thrashing they were dealt in Week 6 by the Eagles was more indicative of the way his team played than the Eagles overmatching them.

“The last time we played them I know exactly why they beat us. We didn’t do anything that you need to do against any type of team to win,” he said. “We turned the ball over, we gave them big plays, we just didn’t play well enough to beat any team and we got to fix that. That’s on us.”

Eli Manning threw an interception was sacked four times that night while the Giants managed just 13 points on 401 yards of total offense — more yards than the Eagles — but could not capitalize in the red zone, going 0-for-3.

But now the Giants are winners of two straight while the Eagles are struggling to find any consistency.

“I think we’re playing better football right now,” Manning said. “Finishing drives … I think we’re running the ball better than we were then. We’re playing better football and we got to keep doing that.”

A Giants win on Sunday keeps them alive in a sloppy NFC East — and if that could be coupled with the Cowboys beating the Redskins on Thursday — the Giants would be just two games out of the division lead with five games to play.

Shurmur believes it is as simple as just not making the mistakes that they made last time.

“I think I’m just seeing it like I see it. That game got away from us,” he said. “We played a really good team and we didn’t play well and we got small. They need to know that so we can worry about doing things well that we didn’t do well that game.”
